Dieser Cache führt dich zu einem gewaltigen und sehenswerten Baum, der angeblich ältesten Eiche Europas, die im kleinen Ort Bierbaum in der Oststeiermark steht. Die Eiche, die von Experten auf über 1200 Jahre alt geschätzt wird, ist 22 m hoch und besitzt eine Kronenweite von 38 m. Ihr Stammumfang beträgt 8,75 Meter. Gepflanzt wurde sie vermutlich zur Zeit Karl des Großen, im Jahre 990 wurde sie das erste Mal urkundlich erwähnt. Im Mittelalter soll sie als Richtstätte gedient haben. Was besonders ergreifend ist, wie vital diese Eiche - nach einer gründlichen Sanierung - heute noch ist. Es gibt allerdings noch zwei weitere Eichen, die diesem Baum den Rang um die älteste Eiche Europas streitig machen - eine, die Femeiche, steht in Rasfeld, Kreis Borken, Deutschland, die andere in Bulgarien, im Ort Granit, Bezirk Stara Zagora.
Bei den Headerkoordinaten stehst du vor der Eiche. Du siehst ein hölzernes Schild auf der Eiche - zähle die Anzahl der Buchstaben des ersten Wortes und nimm die Zahl als X!

This cache leads you to one of the oldest oak trees of Europe in the village of Bierbaum, Eastern Styria, Austria. Experts think it's the oldest oak of Europe and about 1200 years old, although there are two other oaks which are mentioned to be older, maybe, one of them is the "Femeiche" in Rasfeld/ Kreis Borken, Germany, the other one can be found in Granit near Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.
The tree was mentioned for the first time in the year 990. Its height is about 22 meters, the treetop is about 38 meters wide and the stem has a circumference of 8,75 meters.
Maybe this oak was planted at the times of Karl the Great, and in the Middle Ages it might have been a place for executions.
It is great how vigorous this old oak still is!
At the header coordinates you're standing in front of the oak. You will see a wooden plate fixed to the tree, count the number of the letters of the first word and take it as X!

V. 3: Nachdem der Cache schon zweimal zerstört wurde, wurde die Installation verändert und der Cache ist nunmehr ein einfacher Offset-Kurzmulti! Der Finalplatz im Moorwald ist sicher nicht so angenehm, wurde aber auf Grund der extremen Mugglegefahr (siehe Cachegeschichte) so gewählt...bitte um Verständnis!
