This cache has been archived.

IthacaDoodle: This one has unfortunately gone missing - I think it was too close to the trail for its own good.

Geocache Description:

This cache is our last 2008 contribution to the Chain Reaction of caches in the area. The given coordinates are for the trailhead for trail #2 in Shindagin Hollow. Solve the puzzle below to find the location of the cache along this trail.

Definition of CONCATENATION = (noun): A series of links united; a series or order of things depending on each other, as if linked together; a chain, a succession. From the Latin com- (with) + catena (chain).

concatenation

Cache is a lock-n-lock filled with key chains. There is an unactivated Travel Lizard Geocoin (on a chain!) as a prize for the FTF.

Before meeting friends nearby to find a new cache in the area, we explored the trails, saw this spot, and a voice in our heads told us to place a cache here. The cache is along one of many excellent mountain bike trails in the Shindagin Hollow area. Ithaca was apparently selected as one of the top 5 places to live for a mountain biker, primarily due to the Shindagin Hollow trail system and you will see some of the impressive stunt areas as you approach this cache.

This cache is inspired by the placement of NyPaddleCacher's Area 51: Shingadin Hollow which followed upon IthacaDoodle's Black Bear on Bald Hill which followed upon Vanelle's Chain Reaction? Absolutely! which in turn was inspired by IthacaDoodle's Chain Reaction on Bald Hill which in turn was inspired by NYPaddleCacher's Split Personality which in turn was inspired by Adium's Bald Mountain. Feel free to contribute to the Chain Reaction of caches in the area when you come to find this one. This cache also follows up on a series idea I've had of "lookalike" puzzles that resemble other puzzle caches but are solved in entirely different ways (ways I've discovered while trying to crack the originals!).

You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.
