Geocache Description:

Therma is a hot mineral watter spring ending up into the sea and warming the water.
Therma is located in Kos Island, Greece.

About Kos:
Kos is an island in the Dodecanese group in Greece, next to the Aegean Sea. It is the third largest island of the group.
Kos is dominantly non-volcanic but contains Miocene to Pleistocene volcanic centers. The Kamari caldera is of mid-Pleistocene age and contains the 1.0-0.55 million-year-old, post-caldera Zini lava dome. The widespread Kos Plateau Tuff (160,000 years ago), which blankets much of the western half of Kos, originated from a submarine source between Kos and Nisyros islands and resulted in the formation of a large caldera. The caldera dimensions are uncertain, but may extend as much as 20 kilometers from Kefalos Bay in southwest Kos Island to Nisyros Island. Several solfatara fields are found on Kos island, including Vromotopos at Kefalos Isthmus on the western side of the island and a group of thermal areas at the eastern side of Kos. Thermal activity consists of weak hydrogen sulfide emission, sulfur deposits, and two hot springs along the southeastern coast.

About Therma:
It is a pebbly beach with volcanic pebbles and warm seawater, due to the hot mineral water springs nearby. It is just for this that the beach was named after («thermes» in Greek means «hot»). The place with the spring water is sorrounded with big stones. The temperature of the water of the springs is high. It contains high quantities of ions of Calcium, Sodium, Magnesium, Potassium and Sulphur, Chlorine, which make them suitable for the cure of rheumatism, arthritis and gynaecological diseases. The springs were discovered by the Italian archaeologist Laurenzi in 1934.

Access:
Therma is located 10 kilometres from the centre of the capital of Kos (Kos Town) in the southeast direction to Agios Fokas. Access is easy by public bus, by taxi and by rented or private car and motorbikes. Preferred parking is at N 36° 50.764 E 027° 19.335, but little parking places are around dirt road from this point to the Therma. Walk down from the parking for ten minutes to the beach; 100 meters later you’ll find Therma.

You must fulfill the requirements for log this cache:
1) Insert your photo with big stones around hot watter to log.
2) Send to my email mysak@lit.cz your answers to the following questions:
- How many types of diseases the mineral water can cure?
- What is the colour of pebbles on the beach?
- Insert your thermometer to the spring from path around (be careful - watter is really hot). What is the current water temperature?

The logs which will not comply with the requirements will be deleted.
