Il famoso belvedere su Roma del Gianicolo -
The famous wiewpoint on Roma: the Gianicolo hill.

ITALIANO
Sul Gianicolo, l'ottavo colle di Roma, furono sepolti importanti personaggi, tra cui il mitico re Numa Pompilio e i poeti Ennio e Cecilio Stazio.
Il colle tornò ad essere protagonista quando l'esercito francese attaccò la neonata Repubblica Romana, su richiesta del papa Pio IX il 29 aprile del 1849.
I volontari, guidati da Giuseppe Garibaldi, furono sconfitti e costretti alla resa dopo due mesi di durissimi scontri. Mazzini, Armellini e Saffi, che avevano costituito un Triumvirato per governare la città, furono costretti alle dimissioni e all'esilio. Nel piazzale centrale della passeggiata del Gianicolo è posto il grande monumento equestre dedicato a Giuseppe Garibaldi. L'Eroe dei due mondi dal più alto punto del colle guarda verso Roma.
A poca distanza, lungo la strada che conduce al Vaticano, c'è invece il monumento di Anita Garibaldi, dove le ceneri della donna furono trasferite dai nipoti dell’eroe.

Tutti quelli che salgono sul Gianicolo si affacciano naturalmente verso est, dove si gode lo spettacolo della città di Roma fino ai monti in lontananza. Pochi si affacciano dalla parte opposta, dove è possibile vedere la cupola di S. Pietro e le ville che sono state luoghi di battaglia ai tempi della Repubblica Romana.
In particolare sul lato-b potrete ammirare i parchi di Villa Doria Pamphili, del Vascello, di villa Corsini e di villa Abamelek (oggi sede della ambasciata Russa in Italia) e con un po’ di attenzione, trovare la cache.

L'area è piena di muggles, ad ogni ora. Agite con attenzione, nessuno presta attenzione ad un turista che fa foto panoramiche. Rimettete accuratamente a posto la cache dopo l'uso esattamente come l'avete trovata.
Contiene solo il logbook, quindi portatevi un utensile per scrivere.
Parcheggio disponibile, mezzi pubblici disponibili, si può venire in bicicletta. Vicino al parco di Villa Pamphili.

Important personages, including the mythical king Numa Pompilio and poets like Ennio and Caecilio Stazio were buried on Gianicolo, the “eighth hill of Rome”. The hill became very important when the French army attacked the fledgling Roman Republic, at the request of Pope Pio IX on April, 1849. The volunteers led by Giuseppe Garibaldi were defeated and forced to surrender after two months of hard fighting. Mazzini, Armellini and Saffi, who had formed a Triumvirate to rule the city, were forced to resign and exiled abroad.
In the central square of the Gianicolo park area is the great equestrian monument dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi. The “Hero of the two worlds” looks at Rome from the highest point of the hill. A short distance along the road that leads to the Vatican, there is the monument to Anita Garibaldi, where the ashes of the woman were transferred by Garibaldi’s grandchildren.

All those who visit Gianicolo mainly face east, where you can enjoy the spectacle of the city of Rome up to the mountains in the distance. Only a few people overlook the other side, where you can see the dome of St. Peter and the villas which were places of battle at the time of the Roman Republic.
In particular on the “b-side” you can admire the park of Villa Doria Pamphili, il Vascello, Villa Corsini and villa Abamelek (now hosting Russian embassy in Italy) and you should be able to find the cache.

The area is full of muggles, at every hour. Act with care, no one pays attention to a tourist who takes panoramic photos. Carefully put back in place the cache after use, exactly as you found it.
There is only the logbook, so take a writing tool with you.
Parking available, public transportation available, bicycle suitable, close to Villa Pamphili park.
