Geocache Description:

WELCOME TO THE STEEPEST STREET IN THE UNITED STATES...

Canton Avenue is the steepest public street in the United States with a 37% grade. That means for every 100 ft. of horizontal distance traveled, the elevation changes by 37 ft.
This street beats all others in grade (even the steep streets of Los Angeles and San Francisco). The steepest street in the world is New Zealand's Baldwin Street in the city of Dunedin. But this claim has been challenged due to an error recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. If this mistake is corrected then Canton Ave will be the steepest street in the world. I will include some links if you would like to learn more.

The cache is a waterproof match container located on a path in the woods about midway on the street. The path is obvious and there is no need to bushwack. The reason this gets a 2.5 star rating for difficulty is that it is a micro in the woods. You do not need to go far into the woods to find it and you never need to leave the path. If you get stuck the clue will give you a pretty accurate description.

Also you can't drive on most of Canton Ave. You can park at the bottom on Coast Ave but that is very limited. Or you can park at the spot that I did at the intersection of Hampshire Ave and Canton Ave. There is an obvious spot and you can walk down from there. Either way just don't grab the cache and run. Try and walk down then back up. It's pretty neat. When I took a reading I got about 15 feet of error due to tree cover. Just use your Geosense and if you get stuck, use the clue.

So enjoy your walk on the steepest street in the United States and possibly the world.
