The Coombes at Hinton Parva are located five miles south east of Swindon and is an area of botanically rich chalk grassland owned by The National Trust. It has also been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
There is a rich and varied invertebrate fauna that includes 23 species of butterfly, several of which are dependent upon plants found only in unimproved grassland, for example brown argus, small blue, chalkhill blue, and dark green fritillary.
Free parking available behind Village Hall for people visiting the Coombes. Please do not park by Red Phone Box outside Village Hall.
Suitable footwear recommended in wet conditions. If you wish to attempt "Hinton Palaver?" geocache we suggest moving to recommended parking co-ordinates. Local roads have few pavements or grass verges to walk on.
