Liepajas ezers ir viens no jaunakajiem ezeriem Latvija. Ta vecums ir tikai 2-4 tukst. gadu. Šis ezers radies viena no Baltijas baseina attistibas stadijam - Litorinas juras laika. Lagunas tipa ezers, no juras atdala vairakus kilometrus plats smilšu bars. Speciga eitrofikacija, aizaugošs, plaši niedru masivi, jo ipaši dienvidu dala. Iepreti Liepajai plašs udens klajums. Ap 15 salu ar kopejo platibu - 36 ha. Krasta linijas garums - 44,6 km. Ezera gultni parsvara klaj dunas, 0,4 - 1 m biezs slanis. 10 sugu zivis. Galvenas pietekas - Barta, Alande, Otanke.

Liepaja lake (Latvian: Liepajas ezers) — the fifth-largest lake in Latvia, located near Liepaja in Liepaja district. Total area of the lake - 36 km2, length - 16.2 km, average depth - 2.0 m, coastal line length - 44.6 km.[1]Liepaja lake is a shallow eutrophic coastal lake with extensive areas of emergent vegetation (Phragmites, Typha, Scirpus, Sparganium), surrounded by seasonally flooded meadows and arable land. Polders and dams enclose most of the wetland area. In the lake are found 14 species of fish - pike, roach, perch, bream, crucian carp, tench, eel, vimba, burbot, carp, zander, smelt, bitterling and rudd.
