We have Motorway Mayhem. We have A-Road Anarchy (cos there aren’t many Motorways in Wales!). But what about public transport users? SideTracked Caches are intended to provide quick Cache-and-dashes at Train Stations.
It is hoped this idea will spread across the country in the same way as the MMs….but if hiding one PLEASE BE SENSIBLE and remember that in this day and age, public transport is under greater scrutiny than ever before, so, although these caches should be quick and easy grabs, PLEASE don’t place a Cache where it could cause alarm!!!

The Wharfedale Line is like a two pronged fork, one line runs from Leeds, initially on The Airdale Line, before leaving this at Apperly Bridge, on a single line to Esholt Junction where it joins the Bradford line, and then runs on to Guiseley the 1st station for Leeds trains.
The other line starts at Bradford Foster Square, calling at Frizinghall, Shipley (where it crosses The Airedale Line), Baildon Stations. It then joins the Leeds branch to form the handle of the fork running via Guiseley, Menson, Burley in Wharfedale, Ben Rydding before terminating at Ilkey
The line was originally owned by the Midland Railway from Leeds to Burley-in-Wharfedale. At this point the line became joint property, with the North Eastern Railway, and was known as the Otley & Ilkley Joint Railway (O&IJt). The line originally carried on from Ilkley, this Midland line served Addingham, Bolton Abbey and Embsay to Skipton. The section from Embsay to Bolton Abbey has been reopened by enthusiasts and operates steam locomotives as the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway.
A branch also left between Menston and Burley calling at Otley and Pool before joining the Harrogate Line at Arthington. The Otley By Pass follows the line of this former track. High Royds Hospital also had its own branch line.
The line was electrified between 1994 and 1995, and is mainly served by four-coach Class 333 electric multiple units operated by Northern Rail
MENSTON
During Monday to Saturday daytimes services run to/from Leeds and Bradford twice per hour, and there are four services every hour to Ilkley. During Monday to Saturday evenings, services are hourly to/from both Leeds and Bradford Forster Square. On Sundays, services are hourly to/from Leeds and every two hours to/from Bradford.
Menston station was redeveloped in 2000 as part of the general improvements to the Wharfedale line by the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive. The derelict station building was brought back into use and a new ticket office was opened. Its current opening times are 0615-1800 Mon-Sat and 0915-1700 Sunday. A bus interchange was developed and the 967 bus service connects with trains at the station, and connects to Otley and Guiseley.
The cache is a bison canister with log only, please bring your own writing implement.
