Short, flat, level walk.
Back in the days of no electric streetlights, most towns' streets were lighted with gas lights mounted on permanent posts. Every evening a lamplighter came around and, with a torch at the end of a long poll, lit each street light. The quaint town of Wellsboro has maintained gas lights as the primary lighting on it's main streets. These lamps are not electric, as some folks believe, but they are actually fueled by natural gas with mantles similar to those used on hand held Coleman lanterns. However, they burn continuously so a "lamplighter" is not needed, as one was long, long ago.
This cache is designed to give us an appreciation of these gas lights as well as to draw attention to "The Green" in Wellsboro, the little park in the center of town across from the county-seat courthouse. Please also note the fountain of Wynken, Blynken and Nod.
The container is a small box that will hold geocoins and small swag items. Please bring your own writing instrument.
