Geocache Description:


Many species in the Australian bush need to be regenerated through fire. Perhaps this is a metaphor for what has happened at this man-made location. The 2003 fires were especially traumatic for Stromlo Observatory. We still see evidence of the trauma side by side with the regeneration.

For the sake of future finders, please take the extra few moments to make sure it is not visible after re-hiding.

Access and Parking: Rather than follow the usual sign to the Visitor Parking - turn left at S35° 19.227 E149° 0.557 and proceed to the entrance of Visitor Parking at S35° 19.250 E149° 0.467. This will provide a carpark very close to the GZ. If you use the other Visitor Parking area and come in the other way, do not be confused by the "Authorized Persons Only" sign which is referring to the fenced in area on the side of the road and not the road!
