Geocache Description:

Rally in the Valley 2
Saturday, July 11
8:30am to 5:00pm
Registration Mandatory

The above coordinates are NOT the meeting place for this event.

This event is a timed competition similar to a poker run or the TV show "The Amazing Race". Create a team of cachers and/or muggles and dash around Saddleback Valley & South Orange County solving puzzles and finding caches.

Rally Defined: This is a contest resembling a wild goose chase in which upstanding citizens behave in a most ridiculous manner while (safely) driving around Saddleback Valley & south Orange County. Along the way, teams will be solving puzzles, trivia, and riddles that will ultimately lead them to a party in their honor.

Interested? Post a “Will Attend” log on the event page, letting us know you plan to form a team.

Registration You MUST register to participate. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/svpuzzlerally and fill out the registration form (in the files section.) Forms can be submitted by e-mail or fax. Once your payment has been received, a confirmation message will be e-mailed to you. Registration packets will be distributed to all teams at when registration closes. This packet will have the instructions, itinerary, and most importantly the first puzzle of the race….to the starting line.

* Registration - 05/01/09 through 06/14/09
* Late Registration - 06/15/09 through 07/03/09.

Registration closes on July 3, 2009. Space is limited, so sign up early! We reserve the right to close registration early if we reach capacity for our final location.

Itinerary (subject to change)
Saturday, July 11
8:30am – Arrive at starting line, meet & greet, announcements
9:00am – On your mark, get set, GO!
3:00 to 5:00pm – Awards and dinner at a food establishment (no-host)

Creating a Team & Carpooling Teams can consist of a single geocacher, a bunch of geocachers, or a mix of geocachers and muggles. We recommend teams of 2 to 4 people, and NO MORE than 6 adults per team/vehicle. Larger teams are not necessarily better than smaller ones. Children are welcome and all trails are family friendly. Teams must fit in one vehicle and that vehicle must be fully insured. Additional vehicles can be left at the starting location.

Food We recommend bringing a cooler with water, snacks, and drinks. Lunch will be on your own. You can pack a lunch, do a drive-thru, or stop at a restaurant – it all depends on your strategy. The location for dinner will be similar to other geocaching events. If you have any dietary or other concerns about the menu or location, feel free to contact us directly.

The Route Duh… we’re not going to tell you the route, but a general map of the area can be found in the files section of http://groups.yahoo.com/group/svpuzzlerally . There will be a few different routes each ranging between 30-50 miles. Of course your mileage will vary depending on your navigation skills.

Hints & Lifelines Each puzzle will have a hint or spoiler, but using it will cost you points. If you’re completely stumped or lost, there will be a bail-out phone number.

Can't attend the event or don't like puzzles, but want to help out? We're looking for volunteers to help prior to the event or on the day of the event. Please contact us!

If you want more information about the Rally, but do not wish to join the free Yahoo group, please send an email to svpuzzlerally-owner@yahoogroups.com and we will send you the files directly.
