About this Cache:
This cache is a replacement to my original Central Jersey - East cache. In fact, during construction several years ago, the cache was repositioned here. Hurricane Sandy washed away the original location. Since this spot survived the storm, I figured it's probably a good spot for a new cache. Rather then just moving the orginal cache, I figured I'd re-post it and give everyone the opportunity to visit this beautiful park again. Enjoy!
About this Location:
Welcome to Raritan Bay Water Front Park in South Amboy. You can smell the ocean from the country's oldest Railroad Town. South Amboy was the gateway to Manhattan for thousands of Central Jersey Travelers in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Travelers would arrive on the Camden & Amboy Railroad, or Raritan River Railroad, and take a ferry to lower Manhattan. With the introduction of electricity, coal was brought into South Amboy and electricity was generated for most of Middlesex county.
Today, ferry service has been restored and South Amboy is again becoming a gateway to NYC. The city of South Amboy is going through a bit of a renaissance, so visit the shops on Broadway and enjoy your walk along Raritan Bay.
This is the eastern stage of the Central Jersey Cache Hunt. When you find this cache, be sure to copy down the partial set of coordinates that will help you find the Central Jersey Cache Hunt. You'll need to find the other three caches on the borders of Central Jersey to find The Central Jersey Cache Hunt (GCP88G).
