Geocache Description:

This cache is for people who want a deep woods adventure. There’s a 1 mile hike on a woods trail before you take a mountain goat trail down into a gorge. The reward is a double punchbowl waterfall and very good fishing. The cache has been in place since September of 2004. Beavers dammed a brook and flooded the road to the cache area. The beavers have been trapped and the road is now clear.

The falls/cache is located at Falls Brook, NB. This is one way to get there.

PLEASE NOTE: PARTS OF THE DICKS LAKE ROAD ARE VERY ROUGH AND ROCKY. YOU NEED A VEHICLE WITH GOOD GROUND CLEARANCE TO TRAVEL IT. YOU DO NOT NEED A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE.

Make your way to Hwy1 and head to Norton. Take Exit 175 to Norton/Apohaqui then turn onto Hwy 865 South. Drive past Cassidy Lake and the PCS Potash Mine then turn left onto Hwy 111 East, heading towards Sussex. Follow the signs to the Shepody Rd. At [N45 34.555 W65 29.693] go straight onto the Shepody Rd. 600 meters later at [N45 34.556 W65 29.288] turn right onto the Dicks Lake Road. Keep on this road. At [N45 33.115 W65 27.105] go right. At [N45 31.608 W65 26.320] turn right off the Dicks Lake Road. Follow this other road through an old chopping until you reach the parking area and start of the woods trail at [N45 30.982 W65 26.224]. Enjoy the walk through the woods, bearing left at [N45 30.426 W65 26.542]. When you hear the falls look on the right of the trail near [N45 30.340 W65 26.393] for flagging tape marking the start of the footpath into the gorge. Follow the mountain goat trail and flagging tape down to the bottom. NO BUSHWHACKING ... TOO MANY CLIFFS! Once you’ve reached the bottom you can see the falls by crossing the brook and climbing the hillside.

Cache is a large ammo can. GPS WAAS accuracy was 4.1m when the cache was stashed. Photos of the falls & area that we’ve taken can be seen by visiting the gallery. Please add some of your own. We hope you enjoy your visit to Little Dam Falls. Good luck in finding the cache.

It is possible to take a car a few kilometers along the Dicks Lake Rd. before you would have to walk. It is 9.6 kms from the start of the Dicks Lake Rd. to the parking area and start of the woods trail. Back in the 1970’s I would park my Honda Civic near the beginning of the Dicks Lake Rd. and walk the road to the falls to go fishing. There are huge trout (rainbow & brookies) in the pools at the bottom of the falls.
