I've been exploring the trails on this preserve for several years and have found them to be really amazing. The variety of trees and plants here are incredible and the four plus lakes provide some good wildlife viewing.
One my recent tour here to find Boscobaby and ShellyShel's excellent Giddy Up cache, I ran into several park workers and they provided me with a wealth of information about the park, trails and special placed in the park. They also gave me a sneak peak at the trail map they've been working one.
This area along the Scout's Trail happens to be call Cosmo's Cabin. There are remains of an old cabin nearby here. I couldn't find the cabin, but I did find a good place to hide a cache.
This area is pretty deep into the preserve (about 3/4 mile) and it's pretty quiet back here ... I wonder if Cosmo still haunts this area?
About your journey to this cache: This is a good companion cache to Giddy Up as it's a little further down the trail, so if you haven't grabbed that one you might want to put that in you GPS too. The area around the reservoirs a flat and provide an easy walk. However, there are no dogs allowed in this area even though dogs are allowed in other areas of the park, you'll also find horses on the trails there too. This area does provide water for the township, so please CITO along the way.
Keep an eye out for the wildlife, make note of all the different types of trees and flowering plants, and be ready to enjoy the wild blueberries and raspberry patches found throughout the preserve.
Have fun and thanks for caching with us!
