Cachen är belägen centralt i Hagfors

The cache is located in the center of Hagfors

Av någon anledning är centrala Värmland fattigt på cachar. Söker man på Hagfors, (augusti 2008), så måste man zooma ut två steg för att över huvudtaget hitta några. Då finns det bara två stycken cachar. Det kan jämföras med en storstad som Prag, som direkt ger 280 träffar, utan att man behöver zooma ut. Nu kan man självklart inte direkt jämföra Prag med Hagfors, men det säger något om antalet cachar i den här delen av världen. Den här cachen är centralt placerad i Hagfors, ungefär som i en storstad…

Hagfors är en av Sveriges yngre städer. Staden fick stadsprivilegier så sent som 1950, bara Oxelösund och Säffle har fått det senare. Staden är byggd kring järnverket och skulle också nästan kunna sägas vara grundad av järnverket. 1873 beslöt sig Uddeholmsbolaget att slå samman 10 olika mindre järnbruk till ett stort, förlagt vid vattenfallet i Uvån. Sedan dess har staden vuxit kring järnverket. Uddeholmsbolaget har också bekostat en del av stadens byggnader, där ibland kyrkan som invigdes 1904. Sambandet mellan staden och järnverket kan även ses i kommunsymbolen, som är en blå låga från en Bessemerskorsten.

I dag är järnverket en av världens främsta tillverkare av verktygsstål. I övrigt är staden känd för Svenska Rallyt, Valsarna och Monica Zetterlund.

By some reason the central parts of Värmland have very few cache’s. If you search for Hagfors in Google map’s (august 2008), you have to zoom out two steps in order to get any caches at all. Then you only have two of them. This can be compared with for example Prague, where you directly get 280 caches, without any zooming out. Of course you can not directly compare Hagfors with Prague, but it says something about the number of caches in this part of the world. This cache is paced in the centre of Hagfors, almost like in a big city…

Hagfors is one of the youngest cities in Sweden. It got its privileges as a city as late as 1950, only the cities Oxelösund and Säffle got it later. The city is built around the steel mill and could almost be said to be founded by the mill. The year 1873 the Uddeholm company decided to make a fusion of 10 smaller mills to one big, located at the waterfall in the river Uvån. Since then, the city has grown around the mill. The Uddeholm company has also paid for some of the buildings in the city, among them, the church that was built 1904. The connection between the city and the company can also be seen in the symbol of the city, a blue flame from a Bessemer chimney.

Today, the steel mill is one of the leading producers in the world of tool steel. The city is also famous for the Swedish Rally, Valsarna and Monica Zett
