Cap Corse - Lighthouse Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

miguaine: Archived.

After telephone contact with the City of Ersa, I had confirmation of the prohibition of landing on the island throughout the year.
The aim is to prevent, among other things, the landing of black rat on the island destroying the nests of birds.

lighthouse

English version

lighthouse 1900
Slightly north of the northern tip of the island of Corse there’s a small island called Giraglia. At the top of this island there’s a lighthouse which indicates its location to boats in both nice weather and during storms. Yellow-bellied lizards (wall geckos) warm themselves up on the green-marble rocks and the whole coastline is a nesting ground for Cory’s shearwater.

For best access look to the south-west or south-east coast of the island and the access is by boat only. It is important to watch the weather since it may suddenly change and even in good weather the waves can reach the height of up to two meters. We chose the south-western section when hiding the cache. Be careful during the ascent, the green marble is weathered and crumbles down – bring real shoes. An old path through rather deteriorated iron gate and then along switchbacks leads to the top. You will see wild garlic and wild nutmegs along the path. And whoopee – you are at the top! Take a look at the lighthouse and don’t forget to take a wide look into the distance – beautifully blue sea with white dots representing sailboats are a great reward for a sweaty shirt.

The cache is a square plastic box hidden in the chimney of a small rock on the top. The entry is covered with stones which are clearly artificially placed. Just remove the stones and stretch your arm upwards. Hide the cache carefully to protect it from rain.

Please consider your physical strengths before the hunt – you will start for the trip at your own risk so don’t take any chances!

There is a GC for the first one to find the cache.

Czech version

My jsme pri zakládání keše zvolili jihozápadní stranu. Podél cesty roste divoký cesnek a plané muškáty.
