Kostel byl postaven v letech 1900 – 1902 v secesnim stylu. Plany k jeho stavbe navrhl jablonecky architekt Josef Zasche, stavbu provedla firma Emiliana Herbiga. Starokatolicky kostel je zrejme nejcennejsi secesni pamatkou mesta a patri k nejvyznamnejsim sakralnim secesnim stavbam v Evrope. V okoli kostela vyrostla na pocatku 20. stoleti puvabna secesni obytna ctvrt. Dnes kostel slouzi svemu puvodnimu ucelu - bohosluzbam starokatolicke cirkve.

The church was built within the years of 1900 – 1902 in the Art Nouveau style. It was designed by Josef Zasche, a local architect, and its construction was carried out by Emilian Herbig’s firm. The Old Catholic church appears to be the most valuable Art Nouveau sight of our town and belongs amongst the most significant sacral Art Nouveau buildings in Europe. A picturesque Art Nouveau residential area grew in the surroundings of the church in the beginning of 20th century. Nowadays the church serves its original purpose –the Old Catholic Masses.
