Geocache Description:

This will take you to along the creek. There is a path that goes down below the falls.

You are looking at layers of limestone that was uncovered by all the water that ran over it year after year washing away the soil. To the north is Piqua Materials Inc.
That uses this high calcium limestone which is quarried from the Brassfield geological formation; one of the whitest and most consistent formations in Ohio. Lime stone rocks are sedimentary rocks that are made from the mineral calcite which came from the beds of evaporated seas,
Lakes and from sea animal shells. Erosion is the process of moving or displacing solids (for example: soil, rock, or other materials) by agents such as wind, water, ice,
Or downward movement of organic material such as soil due to gravity’s force on the material. Think how long it took in this spot alone to cause this much erosion.

Think about how much time and water it took to erode all that you are looking at today.

Typical Chemical Analysis
MAGNESIUM CARBONATE - MgCO3:
SILICON DIOXIDE - SiO2:
ALUMINUM OXIDE - Al2O3:
IRON OXIDE - Fe2O3:
SULFUR - S Total:
MANGANSES OXIDE - MnO

MOISTURE:
The rate of erosion depends on many factors including how much and the intensity of rain, the type and texture of the soil, the gradient of the slope, and how fast the water is moving in the stream. Other factors would include sediment like small rocks would increase the rate of erosion. Limestone is partially soluble, especially in acid, and therefore forms many erosional landforms. These include limestone pavements, pot holes, cenotes, caves and gorges. Such erosion landscapes are known as karsts. Limestone is less resistant than most igneous rocks, but more resistant than most other sedimentary rocks. Limestone is therefore usually associated with hills and downland and occurs in regions with other sedimentary rocks, typically clays.uses include:
The manufacture of quicklime (calcium oxide) and slaked lime (calcium hydroxide);
Cement and mortar;
Pulverized limestone is used as a soil conditioner to neutralize acidic soil conditions;
Crushed for use as aggregate—the solid base for many roads;
Geological formations of limestone are among the best petroleum reservoirs;
As a reagent in desulfurizations;
Glass making, in some circumstances;
Added to paper, plastics, paint, tiles, and other materials as both white pigment and a cheap filler.
Toothpaste

Suppression of methane explosions in underground coal mines
Added to bread and cereals as a source of calcium

Requirements to log this cache:

1. Estimate how many feet the falls are.

2. Estimate how wide the falls are.

3. Post a photo of you and/or your group with the creek and erosion visible from any angle in your online log.
