Forte do Pau da Bandeira [Lagos]
Este edifício militar, baptizado popularmente por Forte da Ponta da
Bandeira, Forte do Registo ou Forte do Pau da Bandeira, começou a
ser construído em 1679 pelo Conde de Sarzedas, Governador do Reino
do Algarve, e fechava a barra da Ribeira de Bensafrim e defendia os
panos de muralha da cidade, dos ataques por mar, construído no
enquadramento da guerra da restauração.
Fazia parte de um conjunto de fortificações de que apenas resta o
Forte da Meia-Praia, destruídos pelo terramoto de 1755. A algumas
centenas de metros deste forte ainda restam uma ponte e uma parede
de uma das 6 baterias de defesa, que podem ser vistas no caminho,
por mar, para a Praia do Pinhão.
Este Forte, com o nome efectivo de Forte de Nossa Senhora de Penha
de França, tem no seu interior uma capela seiscentista e um terraço
com uma bela vista sobre o Atlântico e sobre Lagos, designadamente
para as duas torres albarrãs, que guardam a porta de S. Gonçalo de
Lagos e estão incluídas no brasão desta cidade dos
Descobrimentos.
Como curiosidade, as quatro guaritas do forte, em pedra, são da
segunda metade do séc. XX (1960).
O forte está situado junto ao Cais da Solaria e à praia com o mesmo
nome, onde durante muitas décadas se situou a muito conceituada
lota de peixe de Lagos.
Horário de visita:
De Terça-Feira a Sábado, das 9:30 às 12:30 e das 14:00 às 17:00.
Domingos, das 10:00 às 13:00 e das 14:00 às 17:00. Encerra às
Segundas e Feriados.
A Cache
A cache contém apenas um logbook e um lápis, e
encontra-se escondida no exterior do Forte do Pau da Bandeira,
podendo deste modo ser visitada a qualquer altura do dia, apesar de
se recomendar no período diurno.
Solicita-se que após o found, a
cache seja reposta exactamente no mesmo local, bem camuflada,
de
igual
modo como foi
encontrada.

Fort do Pau da Bandeira
[Lagos]
This military building, was popularly baptized
by Fort da Ponta da Bandeira, Fort do Registo, or Fort do Pau
da Bandeira, began to be built in 1679 by the Count of
Sarzedas, Governor of Algarve Kingdom, and it was a strategic
point near the mouth of Riverside of Bensafrim and was
defending the clothes of the city wall, of the attacks by
sea, built in the time of the restoration war.
It was making part of a set of fortifications,
of which it hardly remains the Fort da Meia-Praia, destroyed
by the earthquake of 1755. At some hundreds of meters of this
fort still there remain a bridge and a wall of one of 6
batteries of defense, which can be seen in the way, by sea,
to the Beach of Pinhão.
This Fort, with the effective name of Fort da
Nossa Senhora de Penha de França, has in it’s interior a
graceful 17th century chapel and a terrace with a
beauty sight to the Atlantic and to city of Lagos, namely to
the two albarrãs towers, what guard the door of S. Gonçalo of
Lagos and which are included in the coat of arms of this city
of Discoveries.
Like curiosity, the four stone sentry boxes of
the fort, are from the second half of the 20th
century (1960).
The fort is situated near the Quay of Solaria and to the beach with
the same name, where during many decades there was the very highly
thought fish market of Lakes.
Visit
time-table: Tuesday to Saturday, from 9:30 to 12:30
and 14:00 to 17:00. On Sundays, from 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00
to 17:00. Closed every Mondays and Holydays.
The
Cache
This cache contains only a logbook and a pencil,
and it’s hidden in the exterior of Fort do Pau da
Bandeira, being possible, to be visited at any time of the
day, despite of being recommended in the daytime
period.
I request, that after the found, to replace the
cache back exactly in the same place, well camouflaged, and
in the same way as it was
found.
