Geocache Description:

This is Oregon's highest physical cache at an elevation of 9733 feet, the top of Steens mountains in Southern Central Oregon.

9733 - Steens Mountain
N42:38.194
W118:34.614
Elevation: 9,733 feet
Container: Ammo can in black bag.
Parking at: N42:38.476 W118:34.791

We wanted to place the highest physical cache in Oregon and after researching things, this is the only location to get that done.

There is another viewpoint that is 2.19 miles north of this location but it is only 9730 feet elevation (And no where to hide a cache as we looked there as well. Yea, you could place a micro but is that really a cache?)

This is an all day trip, this is an Oregon Outback tour, this is a town car drive IF you stay off the Rooster Comb section. Pack plenty of food and water as well as some camping gear just in case "something" happens while your out there.

The best way in is from Burns on 205 but you could also come in from Denio, Plush or Princeton.

Bring your photography equipment, optics and lunch.

There are plenty of camping locations as well as a resort at Frenchglen.
