Geocache Description:

A nice and easy cache and dash - part of the Church Micro series.

St Francis Church, South Ashford.

The Church was built in 1958 as a religious centre for the growing district of South Ashford. First, the wooden cross was erected to mark the site on the 27th May 1957. The building of the Church began on the 3rd February 1958, with the Foundation Stone unveiling and dedication on the 11th May 1958 attended by 1200 people!
The Church was consecrated on the 4th of October 1958, when the building and fittings were paid for - £7,000 of which the majority was raised locally.
The Church was descibed then as "a very lovely simple place of worship", and it still is today. Who needs fancy stained glass windows when the congregation here are blessed with large window framing a tree, so the colours they see change with the seasons.
this cache is placed with the permission of the Parochial Church Council as part of their 50th Anniversary Celebrations.
If anybody would like to expand the Church Micro series please do, we would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names, to avoid duplication.
