This cache has been archived.

ravenmeistre: We recently noticed that absolutely ALL the beautiful old trains have been removed, to where we don't know. But this does mean our cache has gone with them!

Geocache Description:

We've been wanting to place a cache here for quite some time, and finally got around to it today.

This is the start and end of the journey if you decide to take a ride on the Apple Express.

The Port Elizabeth Apple Express has since inception in 1903 contributed much to the national heritage, family memories and milestones of South Africa's citizens. Not only is the Apple Express one of only two narrow gauge steam trains still operational in Southern Africa, but it also now runs across the highest narrow gauge bridge in the world - the Van Stadens Bridge, approximately 77 metres (250 ft) - and currently boasts one of the longest working narrow gauge rail systems. The Van Stadens Bridge was built in 1904 and to this day remains operational for train excursion purposes.

There are also a couple of old trains here, and a lovely spot for people wanting to take photographs.

Don't do this one alone or at night, as it might not be safe!
