Breve introdução
A exploração de massas de minerais é uma actividade que já existe
desde o tempo dos Flinstones, porém só apartir dos anos 90 é que
houve uma revolução nas leis referentes a este tipo de actividades.
Surgiu portanto uma nova mentalidade, uma maior preocupação na
legalização das mesmas, assim como uma maior preocupação em termos
de impacto ambiental e paisagístico. A DGEG que tutela a
abertura de novas pedreiras, cria nos dias de hoje, um conjunto de
entraves às novas explorações, garantindo assim um crescimento
sustentável das mesmas.
É visível por qualquer pessoa, o impacto paisagístico que as
pedreiras provocam, no entanto é importante termos a capacidade de
perceber que também são importantes pois fornecem-nos um conjunto
de matérias-primas que provavelmente todos nós temos em casa. Assim
como, é importante lembrar que só tivémos por exemplo acesso a ver
as pegadas de dinossáuros, no caso do Bairro em Ourém, graças à
exploração da mesma. E não estou com esta conversa a defender a
livre exploração das pedreiras, estou antes a mostrar os vários
pontos de vista, porque é bem visível o negativo impacto,
paisagístico, sonoro (rebentamentos), ambiental (poeira), da fauna
e da flora (extinção de espécies vegetais).

Está num local de onde se tem a percepção do negativo impacto
paisagístico das pedreiras. Não sendo obrigatório, sugiro uma
visita à cache depois das 17h, já que a essa hora as pedreiras não
estão em funcionamento e poderão aproveitar muito melhor o local e
com alguma facilidade observar gralhas de bico vermelho e aves de
rapina.
