Duluth is rich in streams - 42 named streams within the city limits, 12 of which are designated trout streams and all of which ultimately flow to Lake Superior. The steep drop down the hillside across bedrock makes for spectacular waterfalls, great hiking, and, of course, good geocaching.

This series of caches is dedicated to the 'hidden streams' of Duluth, those in out-of the-way places and occassionally underground!


Affectionately known as 34th Avenue East Creek, this short stream lies just east of the much larger Tischer Creek. In spite of its short length, the stream drops steeply from its origins near Arrowhead Road in a deeply incised channel. The amount of large wood stacked up along the banks shows the considerable power this stream has during snowmelt and large storms.

This cache was placed for Lake Superior Day, held annually on the third Sunday in July to celebrate the world's largest freshwater lake. The Lake Superior Binational Forum has donated four unactivated Earth Day geocoins
for this event - this cache contains one of them!

Approach this cache by following the trail down to the stream,and work your way along the stream - this will be easier and much more interesting than a straight-line bushwack!
