This cache is located between Ivalo and Inari along the Finnish highway 4. It can be easily accessed from a rest stop near the highway. Just follow the wooden stairs which begin at the parking area.
Karhunpesäkivi - Bear's den stone
In an untouched forest called Myössäjärvi lies a unique natural wonder of the Ice Age. This "devil’s churn" or glacier mill is unusual because it turned upside-down while it moved to its present location. It's also one of the biggest hollow erratic boulders in the world.
A moulin or glacier mill is a narrow, tubular chute, hole or crevasse through which water enters a glacier from the surface. They can be up to 10 meters wide and are typically found at a flat area of a glacier in a region of transverse crevasses. Moulins can go all the way to the bottom of the glacier and can be hundreds of meters deep, or may reach the depth of common crevasse formation (about 10-40m) where the stream flows englacially.
Moulins are a part of a glacier's internal "plumbing" system, to carry meltwater out to wherever it may go. Water from moulins often exits the glacier at base level, but occasionally the lower end of a moulin may be exposed in the face of a glacier or at the edge of a stagnant block of ice.
Water from moulins may help lubricate the base of the glacier, affecting glacial motion. Given an appropriate relationship between an ice sheet and the terrain, the head of water in a moulin can provide the power and medium with which a tunnel valley may be formed.
To log this cache, you have to perform the following task:
1.) Estimate the overall size of the "Karhunpesäkivi".
2.) Estimate the height of the cavern inside of the boulder.

Karhunpesäkivi
Myössäjärven koskemattomassa metsässä sijaitsee ainutlaatuinen luonnonihme jääkaudelta. Tästä kivestä tekee erityisen se, että se on sisältä ontto, melko sileäpintainen ja kuin ylösalaisin käännetty kookas astia. Se on myös yksi suurimmista ontoista siirtolohkareista maailmassa.
Jäätikkökaivo on jäätikköön veden sulattama tunnelimainen kaivo, joka kuljettaa sulamisvesiä jäätiköltä pois. Tunnelit voivat olla leveydeltään jopa 10m. Jäätikkökaivo saa alkunsa sulamisveden muodostamasta järvestä, virtaavan veden vesiputouskohdasta tai veden täyttämästä railosta. Näistä vesi siirtyy jäätikkökaivoon ja pyrkii kohti jäätikön pohjaa.
Jäätikkökaivot voivat olla syvyydeltään satoja metrejä. Painovoiman vuoksi jäätikkökaivot ovat lähes pystysuoria. Jäätikön reunalla jäätikkökaivon vesi saattaa suihkuta ulos jäätikön seinämästä. Jääkaivot ovat osa jäätikön sisäistä ”putkijärjestelmää”.
