La « Croix de Hesbaye » désigne les deux anciennes lignes
de chemin de fer qui traversaient jadis la Hesbaye, de
Jodoigne à Namur (ligne 142) et
de Landen à Tamines (ligne 147).
Ces lignes se croisaient à Ramillies et sont actuellement, en grande
partie, converties en RAVeL. Nous sommes ici sur la ligne
147, entre Gembloux et Perwez.
Perdue au milieu de nulle part, la gare s’appelait
initialement “Thorembais-Saint-Trond” (nous sommes ici
toujours sur le territoire de ce village, aujourd’hui
rattaché à la commune de Perwez)
mais le coeur du bourg est éloigné de 5 km ! Plus tard, le
nom de « Grand-Leez »
(entité de Gembloux) fut rajouté, du nom du village le plus
proche, à 3 km d’ici. Peu de voyageurs fréquentaient les
lieux : cette modeste gare servait à l’acheminement des
produits agricoles locaux. Aujourd’hui, la gare, en piteux
état, est une propriété privée, et est entourée de quelques
maisons constituant le hameau de la Rue du Bois de Buis.
L’ancien chemin de fer devrait être transformé en RAVeL en
2009, pour relier le « tronçon manquant » entre
Thorembais-Saint-Trond et
Sauvenière. Pour d’évidentes
raisons de discrétion, la cache est dissimulée à l’abri des
regards, à proximité d’un bâtiment oublié de tous. Priez le

The « Hesbaye Cross » is the name of the two
old railtracks which crossed
Hesbaye in the past, from
Jodoigne to
Namur
(line 142) and from Landen to Tamines
(line 147). These lines crossed each other in
Ramillies station. There
are now converted into RAVeL’s
(regional bicycle path network). You are here on the 147
line, between Gembloux and
Perwez. Lost in the middle of
nowhere, the station was initially called “Thorembais-Saint-Trond” (you are on the
territory of this village, part of Perwez commune), but the center of the village is 5 km away ! Later, the name of “Grand-Leez” (part of Gembloux commune) has been added, as it is
the closest village to the station, 3 km away. Very few
travellers came here for taking the train. This small station
was used to transport local agricultural products. Today, the
station is not in an excellent state of preservation. It has
become a private proprietary surrounded by some houses part
of the “Rue du Bois de
Buis” hamlet. The old railway
track should be transformed into a RAVeL bicycle path in 2009, closing the gap
between Thorembais-Saint-Trond
and Sauvenière. For
straightforward discretion reasons, the cache is carefully
hidden from the view of the geomugglers close to a forgotten building.
