Geocache Description:

*PLEASE RE-HIDE WELL - high muggle area!* Our second cache, on the St Philips Greenway. We hope that it can be considered wheelchair friendly, as the path is flat, tarmaced and the cache can be accessed from the side of the path with the minimum of reaching.

This is the second cache placed to celebrate Bristol being declared a Cycling City; I think that the Greenway, which forms part of Route 3, is a great place to go for a walk/cycle with the family. The path itself is mostly flat apart from a rise/steps at the end near Avon Meads (there is a ramp for bikes!), and the odd tree route making interesting hummocks in the tarmac! Bristol City Council have produced a map of the cycle route, along with the Whitchurch Railway Path, also part of Route 3 and well worth a look, especially if you are on a bike. See this link for the map: (visit link) If you want to know more about Route 3, or more about cycling in general, the best place to start is here: (visit link) (This takes you to the Sustrans web site) Even if you are not in Bristol, Sustrans have lots of information about cycling all over the UK. In addition, the route is on the River Avon Trail - if you follow this to the East you can get to some other caches in the area, such as Trooping by the chimney, which is just a short detour off, and also Hillside Hideout which is well worth a look. A map for the trail can be found here: (visit link) This cache can be done as a nice stroll from Temple Meads, or if you fancy a break from shopping at Avon Meads, you can pop along to the site too, it is not far and a lovely walk along the river. If you drive, here is the best place to park. When placed, the cache contained a map of Bristol's cycle paths (if you want one, it is a simple matter of asking the council, and they have maps that cover Bristol, South Gloucestershire, bits of Somerset and out towards Bath), a rubber duck, a bouncy ball, a frog and a geocaching pin. There is also a log book and pen - please use both sides of the log book pages as although I cycle past the cache site every day, I dont want to waste paper!! We have now upgraded this cache to be a regular, given that people seem to want to put TBs in there. Please make sure you hide it well, and replace the 'camoflage' Enjoy!
