NOTE: CLIMB AT YOUR OWN RISK. RECENTLY THERE HAVE BEEN TWO FATAL ACCIDENTS ON THIS MOUNTAIN. Kirkjufell is a very steep mountain and there is no clear path up to the top. There are steep/vertical sections that need to be climbed with the help of a rope. Climbing the mountain can only be recommended for experienced hikers/climbers, in dry weather. Climbing the mountain in wet/snowy conditions is extremely risky.
The mountain Kirkjufell rises 463m from sea level and is located on Snæfellsnes peninsula not far from the village Grundarfjörður. To climb Kirkjufell safely you should take your time finding the right way up. Finding the right way up is not easy and if you find yourself in a situation where there doesn't seem to be a way up, turn around and try to find another way. Climbing this mountain can not be recommended for people who are afraid of heights. Here is a GPS track showing the route. http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=114335. The cache is placed approximately in the center of the ridge on the top of Kirkjufell. It consists of a transparent box with a blue cover. Inside there is a logbook, pen, a wallet and a geocoin.
