St.John the Baptist
The church is of Saxon
origin and is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. The old flint
walls of the chancel were repaired in 1611 and the nave and the
tower rebuilt in brick (the present Lady Chapel). A new nave,
chancel and vestries were added in 1875. In 2004 the building was
further extended by developing the Victorian vestries. In 2005 the
ancient yews in the churchyard were cut back sharply to help them
achieve a more pleasing flame shape. This church also has a Grade 2
Listing.
The Coords above are
for a parking area next to the church, there is also a layby on
Church Road with spaces for a few cars.
The waypoint below will
take you to a memorial to get the date you need. You will not have
to enter the church grounds by more than a few metres to find this
"memorial" if you enter through the Lych Gate. If you have keen
eyesight you can see the info required from outside the church. The
cache is not hidden in the church grounds but approx 200m away on
the Public Footpath (LOOP)
