O Baixo Alentejo é uma grande região de trigo e de montados de sobreiros e oliveiras com enormes varas de porcos pastando na planície. Por isso, pão, porco e azeite são a base duma das mais deliciosas cozinhas de Portugal, que as ervas perfumam com aromas de campo.
A sopa é prato principal, e pode ser fria no gaspacho, mas o pão é obrigatório na sopa de cação, de bacalhau ou de tomate com linguiça. E continua nas migas que acompanham o porco, no ensopado de borrego ou na simples açorda alentejana. Prove estas iguarias em qualquer restaurante de Beja, Mértola, Serpa ou qualquer outra localidade do Baixo Alentejo. Prove um delicioso prato de caça e terá um verdadeiro momento de prazer que o fará regressar à terra do sol!

The Lower Alentejo is a huge region of wheat and assembled cork and olives trees with huge poles of pigs grazing on the plains. Hence, bread, pork and olive oil are the basis of one of the most delicious cuisines of Portugal, perfumed by the aromas of herbs from the fields.
The main dish is soup, and can be cold in the gazpacho, but the bread is mandatory in the soup of tion of cod with tomato or sausage. And it stills in the migas that accompany the pork in the stew of lamb or simple açorda from Alentejo. Try these delicacies at any restaurant of Beja, Mértola, Serpa or any other village from the Lower Alentejo. Try a delicious dish of hunt and have a real moment of pleasure that will make you return to ground of the sun!
It’s in the Lower Alentejo that you’ll have to forget your silhouette and get lost for the excellent cheeses of Serpa, experience the sweetness of their convent cookies and taste the sweet nectar with a great body as the red wine from Vidigueira.

Árvores, flores, surpreendente fauna, planícies, colinas, montes e escarpas que o conduzem até às margens do majestoso Grande Rio do Sul. Deixe-se inebriar pelos perfumes da natureza existente numa num Alentejo que tem mais para oferecer do que o dourado das searas.
Ao longo da região do Campo Branco, a planície em redor de Castro Verde, a uniformidade da paisagem dá-nos a verdadeira dimensão do Alentejo. Dá gosto passear pelas estradas destas terras chãs claras, que na Primavera se cobrem de flores brancas. Um campo salpicado por montes, aldeias e vilas de quatro concelhos – Castro Verde, Aljustrel, Ourique e Almodôvar – com tudo em comum mas carácter próprio, numa demonstração de força da cultura e da natureza que merece um passeio demorado.
Admire os extensos campos de cereais, a placidez dos rebanhos, o colorido das aves. Não é por acaso que existe em Castro Verde uma zona de protecção de aves, tal a importância da avifauna local. Ainda nesta localidade, vá à Basílica Real e aprecie a vista e a magnificência dos azulejos que evocam a Batalha de Ourique.
Descubra também as vilas e arredores. Em Aljustrel, suba até à ermida da Senhora do Castelo. Dê um saltinho a Ervidel e sinta a frescura da Barragem do Roxo. Surpreenda-se com a paisagem árida, quase surreal mas inesquecível, das minas de Aljustrel e de Neves Corvo.
Para recordação, não se fique pelas fotos. Traga na bagagem uma manta alentejana das tecedeiras da aldeia do Lombador (Castro Verde), os excelentes queijos de Serpa e vinhos da região, mel e medronho e não se esqueça de incluir os cheiros tão típicos do Alentejo. Recolha uma mão-cheia de orégãos e leve para casa um ramo de alecrim que dará um verdadeiro toque alentejano aos seus cozinhados. |

Throughout the region of the White Field, the plains around Castro Verde, the uniformity of the landscape gives us the true scale of Alentejo. You’ll wnjoy to walk through the roads of these lands, cover of white flowers at the spring. A field dotted by mountains, villages and towns in four counties - Castro Verde, Aljustrel, Ourique and Almodovar - with everything in common but nature itself in a show of strength of culture and nature that deserves a lengthy tour.
Admire the extensive fields of grain, the tranquility of ships, the colorful of birds. It is no coincidence that exists in Castro Verde a protection zone for birds, as the importance of local avifauna.
Also Discover the towns and surrounding areas. In Aljustrel, go up to the chapel Lady of the Castle. Goto to Ervidel and feel the freshness of the Roxo Dam. Surprise with the arid landscape, almost surreal but unforgettable, mining, Neves Corvo and Aljustrel.
To recall, not just for photos. Bring in the luggage a Alentejo carpet from the weavers of the Lombador (Castro Verde), the excellent cheeses of Serpa and wines of the region, honey and arbutus and do not forget to include the smell so typical of Alentejo. Collect just a handful of oregano and take home a bouquet of rosemary that will give a real Alentejo touch to your cooking. |

A cache está colocada num local de peregrinação ancestral, a ermida de Nossa Senhora de Ara-Celli. Este local encontra-se numa elevação isolada no meio da vasta planície a 294 m de Altitude. A brancura das suas paredes caiadas contrasta com a diversidade de cores da paisagem envolvente, o que faz deste um local único e especial e faz justiça ao significado do seu nome “Altar dos Céus”.
Segundo a lenda esta ermida avista seis outras no Alentejo e Algarve (a dos Remédios em Alcaria, a da Cola em Ourique, a da Guadalupe em Serpa, a dos Castelo em Aljustrel, a da Saúde em Martim Longo e a da Piedade em Loulé).
A peregrinação anual realiza-se no último fim-de-semana de Agosto, circulando a imagem de Nossa Senhora de Ara-Celli em redor do monte.
Dezenas de agricultores da zona aqui se deslocam a pedir um bom ano agrícola.
A paisagem natural é deslumbrante, sendo este, principalmente no Inverno, um local privilegiado de observação de aves como a Abetarda(Otis tarda) e o Sisão(Tetrax tetrax). |

The cache is spotted in a place of ancestral pilgrimage, the chapel of Our Lady of Ara-Celli. This place is in an isolated elevation in the middle of the vast plains at 294 m of altitude. The whiteness of its whitewashed walls contrast with the diversity of colors of the surrounding landscape, which makes this a unique and special and do justice to the meaning of his name "Altar of Heaven."
According to the legend this chapel sights others six in Alentejo and Algarve (dos Remedios in the Alcaria, the Cola in Ourique, of Guadeloupe in Serpa, of Castelo in Aljustrel, the Saúde in Martim Longo and the Piedade in Loulé).
The annual pilgrimage takes place in the last week-end of August, moving the image of Our Lady of Ara-Celli around the mountain.
Dozens of farmers of the area they move here to ask for a good crop year.
The natural landscape is stunning, and is, especially in winter, a place for observation of birds as the Great Bustard(Otis tarda) and the Little Bustard(Tetrax tetrax). |

Inside the cache, besides the usual objects, you'll find a special sheet with a number. Please note this number and the cache name. Keeping together all 30 partial caches codes, you'll get the way to find the coordinates of the final Lusitani cache, which is hidden somewhere in Portugal.
