If not for the sign, this would be a Phantom Trail. One can hardly see it.
I remember using this trail to escape the torture of robb_dogg's Twelve Nights of Christmas series. I vowed to come back and place a cache on it.
NOTE: There are four ways to enter the Liberty, Las Virgenes Canyon area of Malibu Creek State Park. The one closest to this cache is to exit the US 101 at Liberty Canyon and go south. Park in front of the houses, along the curb, before it ends, being mindful of the fire hydrants. Walk south to the end of the street. You will encounter a fence with a gate and on the gate is the standard LA County Flood Control District, No Trespassing signs. To the right of this sign are two standard square State Park signs with symbols for No Dogs and No campfires, to the right of these is a purposely designed pedestrian passageway. The State Park boundary is 1/3 mile south and the State has an easement along the flood control road. As long as you are walking on the road/trails, and not playing in the debris basin, you are NOT trespassing. You are using your State Park.
