Geocache Description:

This is a good hike for those looking for some exercise. You will gain 650 feet in elevation before reaching the cache. It can be approaced from any direction, however the easiest route is to take the trail from 2nd St. to the saddle (listed coordinates) and then follow the trail on up. You will be rewarded with some nice views of North Phoenix.

I drive by this pointy hill almost everyday and wonder why there isn't a cache at the top. So I hiked a few miles through the desert and made the climb.

When I made it to the top I discovered there was a good trail that I could have taken instead (much shorter as well). Not the first time that's happened. I guess this cache won't be so tough after all... well... I don't want to make things too easy on you, so your going to need a little brain power as well.

Solve the puzzle below to get the true coordinates for the cache.

You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.

On my way down the hill there was an owl that would fly by and perch a few hundred feet away. As I made the descent the owl would follow. Very cool.

Remember this is a desert. Watch out for the critters, stinging insects and pokey things and bring plenty of water.

6/27/09 Well it appears that this cache may be a little too easy to find. Punksoulbrother is the third finder we are aware of that made the find without solving the puzzle.

My daughter and I climbed the pointy hill this morning to make a few changes. This is now a two stage cache. After solving the puzzle you will have the coordinates to stage 1.

Stage 1 is now a small container that will be more difficult to find. Once found, you will learn the coordinates to stage 2, which is the original ammo box.

For all those persistent and resourceful cachers that like to climb hills without solving the puzzle, we have placed an undisclosed number of decoy containers on the hill. These containers look just like the real container but do not have the correct coordinates to the final stage. While it may still be possible to find the final stage without solving the puzzle it will be a significant challenge that I suspect will take more than just a few hours of searching.

For those that have solved the puzzle, you will know you have the correct container because the puzzle coordinates are listed inside.

Good Luck!

Mr. Turtle
