Geocache Description:

A short circular walk just off the A6: pine trees, streams, moorland, good views. Great walk for kids and geohounds.

This is a place we often come with Safie. It has everything a geohound might want in a short walk! We enjoy it too. It is a simple circuit on the north and south sides of Wasdale Beck with two caches to find. About 2km and takes less than an hour.

Parking can be found where the track meets the A6. Head south and just after the gate you will see a stile on the left into the woods. Head down this path to the cache. Once found, continue through the wood and down to Watch Tower footbridge. Cross over and a short ascent will bring you to Crag.

Note: If the weather is from the usual SW it is better to go anti-clockwise and do Crag first. As you turn into the wind you enter the shelter of the wood. In wet weather or after heavy rain, the area can be quite wet and the path has stream-like tendencies! Boots or wellies are good.

If you want a longer walk the route can easily be extended by carrying on to Shap Wells Hotel. The Hotel does tea and other refreshments but isn't dog friendly.
