Geocache Description:

As this series of caches are close to water [Hawkins pond in this case] along it's whole length, this is a further extension of my something fishy series. Those of you that have done my Owlbeech Ramble series will know what to expect.

This is a medium sized cache which contains a log book, pen, pencil and sharpener at the time of publishing, along with a few small/medium swaps.

One of a series of caches to take you on a semi-circular wander through another of Horsham’s hidden treasures, the woods and pond near Hawkins Pond, as well as St Leonards Forest [not far from Mannings Heath].

The caches are all just off the bridleway, and none are too far from the beaten path. Parking can be found at N 51 03.276 W 000 16.660 [St Leonards Forest]. There is extensive tree cover and GPSr reception may be patchy!

The woodland scene is ever changing through the seasons providing year round interest. The pond, woodland and forest near this walk are used by lots of wildlife. When you get to the end [ensure you enjoy the view, it is magnificent], you can either reverse your travel or simply continue on for a circular walk via St Leonards Forest back to the car park.

The series consists of caches ranging in size from Micro caches which contain nothing but a log book and a small pencil to Small/Medium caches which contain a log book, pencil, sharpener, pen and are able to contain geocoins, travel bugs and small/medium swaps.

You may require some stealth as this is an area used by dog walkers, horse riders and golfers, so beware of muggles!

Please ensure that you put it back in exactly the same place and way and replace any camouflage used to ensure that it can't be seen, thanks!

If you want to make it a nice circluar walk of about 3 miles in all, then take a look at the map in the gallery as this suggests such a route which will bring you back via Hawkins Pond and St. Leonards Forest back to the parking there at N 51 03.276 W 000 16.660.

There is a small but unique souvenir for the first person to find this cache [in the plastic bag with the log book].

Please Note: None of the caches in this set of 3 are on the golf course either side of the bridleway, they are all close to the main bridleway and none involve trespass or climbing fences that form the boundary of most of the bridelway.
