Schoenmakerskop is a picturesque seaside village that offers picnic spots, coves and secluded tidal pools along the rocky section of the shore. Schools of dolphins and whales are frequently sighted in the area. The Portuguese galleon, Sacramento, ran aground just off Schoenmakerskop on 30 June 1647. Only nine of the 72 survivors reached Delagoa Bay (today Maputo) after a six-month, 1,300km walk. A bronze cannon, salvaged from the wreck in 1977 is mounted overlooking the ocean. The cache is situated between two swimming spots, The Tanks to the East and Mullets Pool to the West. The container is a .2L lock & lock. Bring the family and the dog and spend some time relaxing. Please tread lightly and go towards the overhang.
