Gauja river (Koiva in estonian) is the longest river in Latvia about 452 km. Daugava is about 100 km shorter. Situated around the mid-point of the river from Valmiera to Sigulda lies Guaja's national park.
The river bank exposes Devon's sandstone. It is notable that the starting point of the river is only 90 km away from the estuary. For 22 km Koiva river is at the border of Estonia and Latvia. Before joining Schengen it was possible to swim and row throughout the whole of the river, but you couldn't land or go to the border. Between the opposite bank and another person has to be at least a few cm of water. Who wanted to row and stop had to carry a canoe through the border at Valga.
The cache is hidden at a geocaching event in a friendly neighbouring country for Geojaanipäev 2008. Once you have got the cache, then it wort to rise to the bank and have a look over Gauja river. On the opposite bank lies Ala-Konnu estate with a sauna, shelter and a fireplace. When yo close your eyes, you can imagine a crackling bonfire, children's voices and the mumbling of happy geocachers. On the 28th of June 2008 you can see it open eyed.
Aare on peidetud sõbralikus naaberriigis toimuva rahvusvahelise geopeiturite kokkutuleku – Geojaanipäev 2008 auks. Kui olete võpsikus aardega ühele poole saanud, siis tasub tõusta korraks kaldale ja heita pilk üle Koiva jõe. Vastaskaldal asub Ala-Konnu maaüksus koos sauna, varjualuste ja lõkkekohaga. Kui silmad kinni pigistate, siis võite endale ette kujutada pragisevat jaanituld, laste kilkeid ja geopeiturite rahulolevat mõminat. 28. juunil 2008 näeb seda ka lahtiste silmadega.
