Deutsche Version:
an meine email-Adresse (siehe mein Profil).
eventuellen Problemen...;)
English Version:
The rock formation and stone quarry „Koppe “ can be
found west of the Bad-Wildunger district of Odershausen. In the
southern slope of the „Koppe“, in a length of about 500
meters stretches a geologic outcrop which is called one of the most
interesting examples of saddle thrust fault in the
„Kellerwald“ according to technical literature. About
300 Million years ago when the earth crust was restricted, folded
and shifted mutually, the thrust fault originated during the
formation of the „Kellerwald“ in the so-called
„Variscian mountain formation“.
In the layer result from the east to the west, clay- and pebble
slates from the lower Carboniferous alternate with upper-devonian
red- and belt slates and again with carbon clay- and pebble slates
(apparent in the stone quarry). Inside are hidden volcanic resulted
igneous rocks. The clay slates contain fossils (ammonites; snake
stones, and tracks of the shell Posidonia becheri).
To log the Cache please send the answer of the following
questions to my e-mail address
(check my profile).
At which time were here volcanic eruptions at the bottom of the
sea? and
which kinds of diabase developed as magmas ascended here at rupture
zones?
Logs without sending the answers to my email
will be deleted!
You can log your visit directly, ownermail only if there are any
