Geocache Description:

Enjoy the beautiful Garden's of the Topkapi Palace in the heart of Istanbul.

Also known as Gulhane Park, the Imperial gardens were once a part of the Topkapi Palace and mainly consisted of a grove. A section of the outer garden was planned as a park by the municipality and opened to the public in 1912. It is the oldest and one of the largest public parks in Istanbul. It is located between the Topkapi Palace and Sarayburnu. The entrance of the park has one of the larger gates of the palace. The park is spread over a very large area and has very interesting and rare kinds of trees and bushes. Look to the left of the South exit for a bulbous kiosk that is built into the park wall. This is where the Sultan would sit during military parades and other such events. After finding the cache go have a seat and enjoy the impressive view of the Bosphorus at one of the cafes facing the sea.

While in the area don't miss the actual Topkapi Palace with its stunning collection of treasures, including a 68 carat diamond.

Small note on cache maintenance: There is a local "cache guardian". Name and contact information on file with geocaching.com

*** Admission to Topkapi Palace is not required to find the cache ***
