DE: Die alte Kirche unterhalb Mathon stand lange Zeit unzugänglich
am Berg. Vor kurzem wurde das Unkraut entfernt und die Kirche
zugänglich gemacht. Gleichzeit ist eine Beleuchtung installiert
worden, welche die Kirche in der Nacht erhellt.
Die ehemalige Pfarrkirche St.Antonius ist die erste Kirche von
Mathon, erwähnt um 840 erstmals im Reichgutsurbar. 1528 wurde der
Turm der Kirche erhöht (heute noch sichtbar). Die neue Kirche im
Dorf wurde 1728 gebaut, worauf die alte Kirche aufgegeben wurde.
1969 wurde sie gesichert und unter Schutz gestellt. (Quelle: Frei

Das Val Schons (Schamsertal) ist ein sonniges Tal im Kanton
Graubünden. Mit der Viamala, dem Nordende des Tals, hat sich der
Hinterrhein eine hübsche Schlucht gegraben, die ein lohnender
Ausflugspunkt ist und für wandernde Cacher auch noch die eine oder
andere Box bietet.
Weiter ist der Hausberg Piz Beverin für berggängige Cacher eine
gute Wanderung von Mathon aus (T3, optionaler Abstieg in der
Nordflanke T4).

The former parish church St. Antonius was the first church in the

The Val Schons (Valley of Schams) is a sunny valley in the canton
of Grison. The Viamala, the canyon the river Hinterrhein has
created and the north end of the valley, is a rewarding destination
and features some more boxes for the hiking cacher.
