Geocache Description:

The cache is not actually within Tintagel castle as this is an English Nature property. Please note that there are many cliffs around this area, these should be treated with caution. To find the cache you do not need to actually do any climbing but will you will need to go down a grassy slope. We would strongly abvise against trying to find this cache at night.

The village of Tintagel is a street of B&B's and tacky tourist shops. But head down the hill to the coast and you reach Tintagel Castle. It costs around £3.50 to get into the castle (well worth the money) but we have placed the cache outside of the castle compounds in a more generally accessible spot. The castle itself is often said to be the Castle of King Arthur but it actually postdates him by some 800 hundred years. That said it is not impossible that a structure existed here back in the 5th century. Merlins Cave - on the beach beneath the castle is definitely worth a visit. But watch the tides. It isn't the kind of place you would want to get trapped!
