Esta estrutura em forma de iglu, conhecida por "Poço da Neve", pode ser encontrada no percurso para o Pico do Arieiro. Foi erguido por uma família inglesa para armazenar gelo, neve e granizo das montanhas, uma vez que naquela altura não haviam congeladores.
Esses poços eram escavações profundas, emparedadas e cobertas com lascas de pedra ficando à superfície com a forma de um iglu. Foram construídos nas serras de S. Roque e na zona do Pico do Areeiro. Este poço no Pico do Areeiro foi o único que sobreviveu até aos dias de hoje.
This igloo-shaped structure, known as "Poço da Neve", can be found on the way to Pico do Arieiro. It was erected by an English family to store ice, snow and hail from the mountains, as there were no freezers at that time.
These pits were deep excavations, walled in and covered with stone chips, rising to the surface in the shape of an igloo. They were built in the mountains of S. Roque and in the Pico do Areeiro area. This well in Pico do Areeiro was the only one that survived until today.
