Geocache Description:

Emma & Ian in Northumberland with some 'oldies'

FOR SANDWICH EATERS

Ian (my son) and Emma (my niece) are both lovers of France & the French way of life so a little cache dedicated to them seemed a good idea, especially one that celebrates the great French tradition of stopping for something to eat between noon and 2pm!

To find the exact co-ordinates you will need to solve the simple little Sudoku puzzle shown below. Certain numbers are indicated by the letters A – K and the cache is at
North 44° A B . C D E ' East 000 ° F G . H J K '

It is a spot near the River Vezere, where you can paddle, fish, watch trains, laze in the shade and of course picnic! It is not far from another of my caches and used to be the port of a nearby village. The first container placed was washed away in an April flood before the cache could be listed, the second one went missing after the tree was severely lopped and this 3rd on is now around 2.5 metres above the ground, hidden under ivy. You will need to bring your own writing instrument. Please camouflage it well again when you replace it.

Nord 44° A B . C D E ' Est 000 ° F G . H J K '

THE EASY SUDOKU

Since placing this cache Ian was diagnosed with a Lymphoma in February 2010 and despite the best efforts of the Haematology team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, he died later that year on 15th December. He was a wonderful son to Carol & I and he remained amazingly positive throughout the aggressive chemotherapy, enjoying all the things we managed to do in between his 100 nights in hospital.

He was a True Metal legend in the UK & Switzerland and we are so sad he is no longer out there enjoying himself somewhere in the world. If you want, you can find out more about him at 'Ian Edwards Cancer Break Trust' and 'Ian Edwards: a celebration of a legend' on Facebook and his my My Space page http://uk.myspace.com/Ian_Edwards

A big "thank you" to 20EP for putti ng a new container in place in summer 2015 when the old one seems to have gone missing. Very much appreciated help.

Also to Tiki tour who found the 35mm pot squeezed and broken with a mushy log in November 2018 for doing some maintenance and replacing the log.
