Can you believe that it’s the eighth annual geocache
picnic? How the years fly by when we are having fun
“geocaching”. Mark your calendars and put this cache page on
your watch
list. We are getting things organized and there will be more
information as the time approaches.
The Lenexa
Parks Department has given us a grand welcome to spend time in
their parks and city. They think geocaching is a great family sport
and want to encourage people to come to their area. They are
excited and happy that we have accepted the invitation. They are
donating two shelters, grills, charcoal, hot dogs and brats for the
picnic. What a deal!! That saves the geocaching community at least
$200. When you meet anyone from the parks department make sure you
show your gratitude and give them a BIG thank you.
Each shelter can seat 60 to 70. They are a distance apart but that
shouldn’t be a problem. We may need some extra tables for the food.
If you have one to share that would be great. Bring your lawn
chairs. Playground and restrooms are nearby. They asked that there
be no alcohol. Dogs must be on a leash and not in the shelter
areas. We are also welcomed to use the pool at a discounted price
of $4.00. If you are interested, look up Jenny from the parks
department in the afternoon. She will have the tickets.
As in the past, bring your favorite dish to share, drinks and
water. Plates, silverware, cups, condiments and buns will be
provided. We always seem to have a grand spread. If you want
something other than hot dogs there are additional grills available
for your use near the shelters. We have several activities
scheduled:
- Caches – Permanent and some for the kiddies
- Coins – show, trade, sell (bring your own
tables)
- GPS Experiment – be sure to bring your GPSrs
- Drawings – donated items would be appreciated
- Coin auction – Larry739 made a comment about having one –
donated coins would be appreciated

We are open to any ideas. A PA system has been
purchased so hopefully everyone will be able to hear. This is your
picnic and we want you all to have a good time and make it a
success. We need some volunteers for a few jobs. Some of you have
already chimed in and that is great. Here is the list:

need an approximate number to give to the Lenexa Parks Department.
