Schat der
tempeliers
verdwalen.
We wensen een ieder veel
succes met deze duistere beproeving.

The Templars'
treasure
The Chivalric Order of the Templars was founded by Pope Innocentius
III in 1112 AD.
In its early years, The Templars were a poor Order, but it soon
grew rapidly into an extremely wealthy and powerful order.
Details regarding the means by which the Order amassed its vast
riches remain a mystery.
The Templars wealth enabled them to spread throughout Europe, and a
number of them lived in Brabant, near Aardbrandsche berkenberg
heide.
One of the things they were famous for was their luxurious hunting
parties.
The knights wore extravagant outfits for their hunts, and their
horses were shod with golden shoes.
But as the Templars gained wealth, they also made many powerful
enemies, and the good times began to reverse.
One day a wild storm blew in towards Aardbrandsche berkenberg
heide.
The howl of the wind started first, then thunderclaps began to echo
off the hills.
The sky, darkened by low black clouds, was lit up by first one
flash of lightning, then another, then many one right after
another.
The wind whistled through the trees of the forest, first bending
their branches, then breaking them off like matchsticks.
Even the strong Knights of The Templars huddled in fear of what
disasters the storm would bring.
The Templars were right to fear, for under the cover of the
storm their enemies approached.
A massive battle ensued, and in the end the Templars had to
flee.
The pounding of their horses' hooves rang out even louder than the
storm, and the glittering flashes of the lightning reflecting off
the golden horseshoes was an amazing sight to see.
Amidst the panic of their flight, one brave Templar noticed that
what treasure they had managed to pack on the horses was starting
to fall off, and he called a brief halt to the retreat so that they
could quickly bury what remained.
Fast as the lightning flashing in the sky they then resumed their
retreat with their enemies close on their heels.
As the the roosters crowed the next morning in Dommelen, the
Templars had disappeared as completely as the leaves had been
stripped from the trees by the fierce winds, never to be seen
again.
The Templars' treasure was never found, but it is
rumored that in their panicked retreat, they rode so hard through
the woods that small slivers splintered off their horses' golden
shoes.
It is said that with a bright light at night one could follow their
tracks by looking for the sparkle of the slivers that remain.
Be careful though, for in order to throw off their pursuers,
the Templars fled not just on the main wide paths, but also on less
obvious smaller paths as well.
Be sure to watch for these smaller paths as well!
We have also heard that near a small path in the densely overgrown
forest, a farmer found a silver piece in the form of the Templars'
coin, which he hid behind a tree he marked with a cross.
The code on the coin will serve as proof that you found this
silver piece.
Continue to follow the Templars' escape route, and watch carefully
as the location of the treasure is near.
Legend says that very close to the treasure you can see a golden
hand (See the spoiler picture), and from this golden hand you can
see the last golden splinter.
Your task is to follow the glittering splinters through the
dark of night and find the Templars' treasure.
The splinters are best visible with your light held at eye
level.
Be sure to make yourself invisible as you near the treasure, for if
you are spotted you will have to flee from enemies of the Templars
who are still searching for their great treasure.
Please note that once you have found the treasure you will have to
find your own escape route through the forest,
so take precautions to prevent yourself from getting lost.
We wish you all good luck with
this test of darkness.
