Geocache Description:

You should enjoy the short hike to GZ in this idyllic setting. It overlooks a blackwater creek - one of those places my Dad used to describe as "black as ink, but you could see a dime on the bottom in ten feet of water."

You can also enjoy a surprising variety of wildlife, if you're lucky as I was the day I planted the cache. Ducks, Geese, Terrapins, Gray Egret, even a few of the increasingly rare Chimney Swifts darting acrobatically around the bridge snaring mosquitos in mid-air, as a Woodpecker filled the air with his drumming on a hollow tree somewhere nearby in the swamp.

This is the Southwest Creek that played a part in the first Civil War battle of Foster's Raid, mentioned & depicted prominently in the 'Foster's Pico' cache about a half mile south of you. As you face north, the whole area up to the hill you'll see rise about a half mile ahead was underwater, after being flooded by the notorious Hurricane Floyd when it came thru in 1999.

NOTES:
• There can be quite a bit of traffic on this road at times. You won't have to be exposed to it - park well off the road and stay on the outside of the guard rail alongside, leading up to the bridge. Pretty obvious what holds this magnetic .... about the only question is, where? Enjoy your hunt, and the scenic view!
