Geocache Description:

The cache is a small Leopard skin cammoed, plastic, screwtop jar, located in the parking area of the Davidson Nature Preserve.

This cache will bring you to the head of the trail on the Davidson Nature Preserve in Vassalboro Maine. This conservation property was donated to the Kennebec Land Trust in 2005 by Vassalboro resident Elizabeth Davidson. The preserve protects ecologically important wetlands, approximatly 75 acres of woodland, and over 15 acres of fields, featuring beaver flowage, an active heron rookery, and tremendous biodiversity within a relatively small area. Moose have been sighted, and sixteen species of warblers have been identified during spring migration. Blueberry picking in July and August and bird watching year-round are preserve highlights.
There is a small kiosk with maps that show the trail and the fields open to picking. There are no blazed trails. Boundaries are marked with small white KLT signs. Please respect all adjacent private property.
KLT manages the Davidson Nature preserve for blueberries and for wildlife habitat. The blueberry fields are open to the public for NON-COMMERCIAL PICKING and are mowed on a rotating basis so the blueberry bushes can be pruned to the ground. In the growing season immediately following fall mowing, plant growth occurs and flower buds are formed. In May of the following year (the crop year), flower buds open and bloom and berries develop. Since blueberries require cross-pollination by insects for successful fruit set, there are beehives at the preserve that should not be disturbed.
Since the Davidson nature preserve is managed fot ground nesting and migratory bird species, and public access to the blueberry fields, dogs are not allowed.
The cache hide contains a pair of binoculars and a collectible path tag!
Make sure to go for the $#!+pokes cache (GC1BH0F) that is near here.

Congratulations to Trezurs*-R-*Fun for a FTF
