Geocache Description:

We recently discovered a series of hatches in the Pearce Estate Park area. There's now a micro-cache hidden near one of them. If you know, please include in your log a sentence or two about the purpose of these hatches. Our theory follows...

The purpose of the green hatches in Pearce Estate Park is cloaked in mystery. There are 8 such hatches, and since 8 is one of the "Lost numbers", we got to thinking that they might relate to the the DHARMA Initiative (Department of Heuristics And Research on Material Applications Initiative) research project on "the Island".

The Initiative was founded in 1970 by Gerald and Karen DeGroot, two doctoral candidates at the University of Michigan. It was financially backed by Danish industrialist and munitions magnate Alvar Hanso and his Hanso Foundation. The alleged purpose of the Initiative was to create "a large-scale communal research compound where scientists and free-thinkers from around the globe could pursue research in meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism, and Utopia Socialism”. Further it is said that the mission of the Initiative on "the Island" was to study its unique properties for the betterment of mankind and advancement of world peace.

Could these hatches be related to the ones on the island? What strange electromagnetic forces were playing havoc with our GPSr units? Find the cache and the answer may be revealed … or not.

You are looking for a magnetized green camo'd bison tube. We experienced poor satellite reception, never getting better than +/- 6m accuracy , so the coordinates may be slightly off. Update 27Jun15: The cache is not hidden on the recently installed electrical riser.
