Geocache Description:

Hike along Wadi Yitzpor on the Gilboa Mountain
Note: The cache may be missing. Last seeker did not find it.

The hike down Wadi Yitzpor takes you through some wonderful shady areas so you can even do this hike in the warmer months. You are also rewarded with a view of the Harod/ Beit Shaen valley.

The hike also takes you down two steeper areas that go down dry falls with the help of metal handles in the rocks.

To get to the beginning of Wadi Yitzpor drive up road 6666 from the intersection to Ma'alae Gilboa (off road 669.)

Drive up to the top and when you get to the T intersection park the car on the side. There is a sign to Yitzpor Wadi and it is marked with a red trail and begins at a small picnic area.

If you have a second car you can park it about half way up road 6666, along a dirt path about 100 m after the look- out point. There is a sign with the red trail mark and further on you can see the water storage reservoirs. The gate to this dirt road was closed so we parked at the gate on the side of the road, but we know that a few weeks ago cars were able to park near the water storage reservoirs which is very near the bottom of Wadi Yitzpor.

We took this hike very leisurly today and it took us over 2 hours. There are so many lovely places to stop and rest in the shade along the way.

There is a steep descent with metal handles in the rock to help you get down, but parts were difficult for our dog who needed to be carried because she was slipping.

The cache is hidden on higher ground in order to get a good reading and is in a small round plastic container with a green top, placed in a plastic bag.

There is a log book, but please bring your own pen/pencil to log in.

Please return the cache to the same spot and cover it the same way so it can be found again by geocachers and not by muggles. Thanks.

Unfortunatley other hikers have left garbage bags with trash that have been attacked by animals and has left a mess. We took some out, but didn't have a large enought plastic bag with us. Please take an extra bag with you and help take out some of the trash. Thanks.

Of course please take water, hat, sunblock and a trail map with you. Enjoy.
