Geocache Description:

Ludwig Pettifogger proudly presents Defending Stockholm SE.

At the top of a small hill above lake Strålsjön and close to Älta municipality you will find several fortifications along a short path.

Those fortifications seems to be from different ages but are most likely from the first and second world war although it is possible that some may date back even further. Maybe this place was a part of the defence line “Korvlinjen” that was built just before the first world war in order to stop enemy forces from advancing on the central parts of Stockholm.

The truth of the matter is that I have been unable to find any information about this place. I would very much appreciate information about this site and relevant information will be enclosed in the cache description.

Close to the cache you will find a bunker facing Erstavik and Erstafjärden, a part of the Baltic Sea. This bunker seems to have been built during the second world war and maybe the purpose was to defend against an sea assault by German troops on the Erstavik area.

At the end of the path you will have a very good vantage point of lake Stålsjön and the nearby Strålsjöns nature reserve. This might also be the perfect spot for a break and some light refreshment.

Please notice that the private road that leads to Erstavik has a bar that is often closed and that you would do very well to park your car at the recommended parking place.
