Walk up to the monument and read the story of the White Family. On September 22, 1862 Samuel White along with his wife, Laura and their children Susan and Otis were massacred by a band of Indians. Their log cabin was located approximately 1,200 feet north. Step Eight Paces south, look to the west. You will see some pine trees. I know how much you love pine tree hides. So this one is in the spruce tree. White Cedar tree/Arborvitae.
